Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 19 May 2026
Our commitment
We want Defaults to be usable by as many people as possible, including users who rely on assistive technology. We treat accessibility as part of the product, not an afterthought.
Conformance target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. The site is built with semantic HTML, keyboard support, focus styling, sufficient color contrast, scalable text, and reduced-motion respect for users who prefer it.
Measures we take
- Pages are built mobile-first and reflow without horizontal scrolling at standard zoom levels.
- Interactive components have visible focus indicators and meaningful labels for screen readers (ARIA where native semantics are insufficient).
- Color is never the only carrier of meaning; chart and score visualizations include text labels.
- We honor
prefers-reduced-motionby dampening animations. - Forms include explicit
labelelements and error messages that name the field at fault.
Known issues
We run automated accessibility checks (axe-core) on each release and address findings on a rolling basis. As of the last review, the following items are on our list to fix:
- [PLACEHOLDER — to be populated from latest axe-core run.] If you find additional issues before this list is updated, please report them at the contact below.
Compatibility
The site is designed to be compatible with the latest two versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) and with screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), TalkBack (Android), JAWS, and NVDA. If you use a less common assistive technology and run into trouble, tell us — we will do our best to help.
Feedback
Found something that does not work for you? Please email hello@knowthydefaults.com with a short description of the problem, the page URL, and the assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two (2) business days and to address material barriers within a reasonable timeframe.
Alternatives
If the web interface is not workable for you, we can deliver your generated report as a plain-text or PDF email attachment. Just ask.
